RESEARCH PROJECT 02
DIGITAL VILLAGE
A digital agriculture research initiative combining farmer surveys, field data, IoT sensing, geospatial mapping and satellite-based vegetation analysis.
DIGITAL AGRICULTURE
Connecting field observations with digital intelligence.PROJECT OVERVIEW
Field Data
Meets Digital
Agriculture
The project involved collecting, organizing and analyzing information about agricultural fields and farmers.
The documented activities included farmer surveys, plot tracking, GPS information, field observations, environmental sensors and satellite imagery.
FIELD DATA
Understanding
the Field
Farmer Profile
Information associated with farmers and their agricultural activities.
Plot Tracker
Field plot information, measurements and observations.
Seasonal Survey
Crop, irrigation, harvest and seasonal agricultural information.
GPS & Mapping
Geospatial information used to understand agricultural plots.
INTERNET OF THINGS
Environmental
Sensors
The project documentation describes the installation of three temperature and humidity sensors.
Two sensors were used to extend the communication path from the main hub, while another was positioned near the examined plots.
GEOSPATIAL RESEARCH
Mapping the
Agricultural Landscape
REMOTE SENSING
Sentinel-2
& NDVI
Sentinel-2 imagery was explored as a source of information about vegetation conditions across agricultural areas.
Vegetation indices were applied to imagery to examine vegetation patterns over time and across selected plots.
The documented analysis identified non-uniform NDVI patterns within selected plots that could indicate locations requiring additional field investigation.
Vegetation Monitoring
Satellite-based vegetation analysis can help identify areas that may require closer examination using field measurements or additional remote-sensing methods.
